Softball Recap: Branham Wins Going Away Against Westmont

Branham barely beat Westmont the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bruins put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 9-2 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Bruins have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jacque Connolly - Hojas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on two hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Branham got a big performance out of CC Bonnard, who went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most hits Bonnard has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Madelyn Steiner, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one double.

Branham was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westmont only posted a batting average of .083.

Branham's win bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Westmont, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Branham will challenge rival Ann Sobrato at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Westmont is set to take on their familiar foe Leigh at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
