Basketball Recap: Brody Howell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pinnacle over Utah Military Academy - Hill Field

Pinnacle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 63-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Utah Military Academy - Hill Field Thunderbirds. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Thunderbirds apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.

Pinnacle's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brody Howell, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 16 boards. That's the most points Howell has posted since back in December of 2023. Diego Contreras was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Pinnacle was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Utah Military Academy - Hill Field had a senior duo take command as Quinlan Ekberg dropped a double-double on 18 points and 20 boards and Lloyd Andersen went 6 of 14 on his way to 18 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Ekberg's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Wankier, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 14 boards.

Pinnacle's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Utah Military Academy - Hill Field, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season.

Pinnacle didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-62 victory against Salt Lake Academy on the 19th. As for Utah Military Academy - Hill Field, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 89-27 loss against Ben Lomond on the 19th.
