Softball Game Preview: Blacklick Valley Vikings vs. Turkeyfoot Valley Area Rams

The Blacklick Valley Vikings will head out to challenge the Turkeyfoot Valley Area Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Turkeyfoot Valley Area took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Blacklick Valley, who comes in off a win.

Blacklick Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on United with a sharp 18-3 win on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Vikings with their most commanding win of the season.

Savannah Woods made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Lauren Rohrabaugh was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Paige Kelley was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.

Ferndale hit Turkeyfoot Valley Area with a nine-run third inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rams came up short against the Yellow Jackets, falling 17-2. The Rams have struggled against the Yellow Jackets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Turkeyfoot Valley Area's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Blacklick Valley, their record now sits at 3-9.

Blacklick Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Turkeyfoot Valley Area in their previous meeting on Tuesday, winning 10-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
