After having lost a blowout in their  previous game against DeSales, Waitsburg was happy to have turned things around  on Friday. They really took it to the Mabton Vikings for the full four quarters, racking up  a  52-0 victory. The Cardinals pushed the score to  44-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Vikings had  no chance of recovering from.
 Jayton Gleason was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 52 yards and two  TDs on only five carries, and also threw for 130 yards and a pair of  touchdowns. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up  a  sack and making three total tackles in addition to snagging  an  interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.  Martin Vasquez was another key player, rushing for 85 yards and two  scores on only seven carries.

 Another reason for the win was Waitsburg's imposing  defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 18 sacks.  Jarod Hankins led the group effort, picking up seven of those  sacks all by himself. He is also on a roll when it comes to  total tackles, as he's  now  made six or more in each of the last ten games he's  played dating back to last season. Gleason got in on the action too, converting a pick  into a touchdown.
The  win  got Waitsburg back to even at 1-1. As for Mabton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waitsburg will challenge Moses Lake Christian Academy/Covenant Christian at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. As for Mabton, they will look to defend their home field  on Friday against Entiat  at 7:00  p.m.
