The Morton Panthers will face off against the Puckett Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Morton has now lost ten straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 8.
Monday just wasn't the day for Morton's offense. They came up short against Lake on Monday, falling 10-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Puckett not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 11th. Everything went their way against Raleigh as they made off with an 11-2 win. Considering the Wolves have won six matches by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Truitte Carter made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Matt Rankin and Jackson Elmore did most of the damage at the plate: Rankin scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Elmore went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits Elmore has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Wilkes Carter, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Puckett was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Raleigh only posted a batting average of .217.
The victory made it two in a row for Puckett and bumps their season record up to 14-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Morton, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-14.
Morton might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from Puckett when the teams last played back in March. Will the Panthers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
