The Kenston Bombers have not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They managed a 48-43 win over Mayfield on Saturday. This was payback for Kenston, who suffered a 60-37 loss the last time these two teams met.
Kenston found their leader in underclassman Morgan Cicek, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aurora Young, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Kenston's win bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Mayfield, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-8.
Kenston's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on February 5th. Rocky River presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Bombers in Ohio (the Pirates are ranked 223rd, while the Bombers are ranked 521st). As for Mayfield, they will head out on the road to take on the Bees at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Brecksville-Broadview Heights focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Saturday.
