The Calvert Cavaliers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their tenth straight loss. They were outmatched by Westlake at home and fell 72-42. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Calvert in their matchups with the Wolverines: they've now lost eight in a row.
Melvin Newman was nothing short of spectacular for Westlake: he scored 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals. It was the first time this season that Newman scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Darius Kemper, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Calvert's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Westlake, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-9.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Thomas Stone the next time they take the court. Westlake will head out to face Thomas Stone at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, while Calvert will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
