Lincoln (Tallahassee, Fla.) saw its 11-point lead dwindle to 10, but still managed to hang on and defeat
Fleming Island (Orange Park, Fla.) 27-17 on Saturday.
The Trojans led 14-10 at halftime, but the Golden Eagles recaptured the lead on a passing touchdown with 9:00 remaining in the third. Lincoln grabbed hold of the lead when
Ben Robinson ran for a touchdown with 7:00 remaining in the third quarter, and never relinquished it.
LHS expanded its lead to seven points entering the fourth quarter. The Tallahassee school scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Robinson.
Cameron Joseph stood out for the Trojans in the win. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns. He has now scored four touchdowns on the season.
Lincoln came into the game allowing 15.3 points per game. The 17 points that Fleming Island ended with were below its average of 20.2 coming into the game.
LHS got revenge for last year's 39-29 loss to FI with the victory.
The win was a nice bounce back for the Trojans, which lost to Godby last week, 40-28. The loss comes after Fleming Island defeated Eastside 44-27 last week. The loss snapped the Orange Park school's 2-game winning streak.
