Jackson Prep is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Hartfield Academy is on a eight-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Jackson Prep Patriots will take on the Hartfield Academy Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Jackson Prep got themselves on the board against Presbyterian Christian, but Presbyterian Christian never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Bobcats 49-0 on the road. Jackson Prep's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Billy Puckett was a one-man wrecking crew for Jackson Prep as he threw for 296 yards and five touchdowns while completing 82.4% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Puckett, who picked up 86 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Even though Hartfield Academy has not done well against Madison-Ridgeland Academy recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Hartfield Academy came out on top against Madison-Ridgeland Academy by a score of 63-56.
The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Reed Jesiolowski and Charles Simpson. Jesiolowski had a great game and gained 211 total yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Simpson was balling out in the loss, rushing for 207 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry, and also picking up 130 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Jackson Prep to 7-1 and Hartfield Academy to 9-0.
Jackson Prep skirted past Hartfield Academy 10-7 in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Will Jackson Prep repeat their success, or does Hartfield Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
