Temple City has gone 9-1 against South Pasadena recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Rams will take on the Tigers at 3:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Temple City's victory against San Marino wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rams skirted past the Titans 8-6. The win was some much needed relief for the Rams as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Pasadena). They put the hurt on Temple City with a sharp 17-8 victory on Monday. Winning may never get old, but the Tigers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Lucia Atencio and Natalie Kan made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Atencio struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off eight hits. Meanwhile, Kan pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. At the plate, Atencio went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Kan went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI Atencio has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Taelyn Adams and Emma Becerra did most of the damage at the plate: Adams went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Becerra went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave Adams a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brooke Zeisler, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
South Pasadena kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.
South Pasadena's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Temple City, their record now sits at 8-11.
Temple City suffered a grim 17-8 defeat to South Pasadena in their previous meeting on Monday. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
