Mia Latham made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Latham was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That double was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Aubrie Deschaine and Kaelyn Dempsey did most of the damage at the plate: Deschaine went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Dempsey went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those three RBI gave Dempsey a new career-high. Vanessa Brown was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Whitehall-Yearling was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Liberty Christian Academy only posted a batting average of .185.
Whitehall-Yearling's record is now 2-3. As for Franklin Heights, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Franklin Heights hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .431. However, it's not like Whitehall-Yearling struggles in that department as they've averaged .422. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Franklin Heights suffered a grim 14-8 defeat to Whitehall-Yearling in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
