Poynette is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Pacelli is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Pumas will welcome the Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Poynette 2.3, Pacelli 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Poynette is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Campbellsport just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 4-0 to the Cougars. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Pumas' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Meanwhile, Pacelli never let their opponents score on Monday. Everything went their way against Tri-County as they made off with a 15-0 win. Considering the Cardinals have won 11 contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Amelia Martini made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted over her last nine matchups.
In other batting news, Ella Van Order was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaedyn Zdroik, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Pacelli hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive games.
Pacelli's victory bumped their record up to 13-4-1. As for Poynette, their loss dropped their record down to 16-5.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Poynette hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Pacelli struggles in that department as they've averaged .370. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Poynette couldn't quite finish off Pacelli in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 and fell 3-1. Will the Pumas have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
