Basketball Recap: Grace Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Grace Christian Academy lost against Fullington Academy back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Grace Christian Academy Cougars fell 48-39 to the Fullington Academy Trojans. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 399th, while the Trojans are ranked 161st).

When it comes to explaining why Grace Christian Academy lost, don't look at Chloe Brogdon. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 20 points and 18 rebounds. That's the most points Brogdon has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kate Poitevint, who posted seven points in addition to six boards and three blocks.

Even though they lost, Grace Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Kathryn Akin continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Fullington Academy, dropping a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. Akin has been hot, having posted nine or more boards the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Stevens, who put up four points along with eight boards and six assists.

Grace Christian Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Fullington Academy, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 11-3.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Grace Christian Academy Cougars challenge the Crisp Academy Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fullington Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-24 victory against Westwood on the 9th.
