Inglemoor and Woodinville are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. Inglemoor will host Woodinville at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
While Inglemoor didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Bellevue with a sharp 21-1 win on Friday. The Vikings have beaten the Wolverines the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Wolverines has come to flipping the script.
Tove Miller (2028) was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Those runs were her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Pearson (2025), who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.
Miller (2028) wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Inglemoor kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Woodinville never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over Cedarcrest. While the Falcons didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Maya Matthews tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Woodinville let Mia Scisciani and Lucy Ford run wild. Scisciani scored four runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4, while Ford scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those four runs gave Scisciani a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Bero, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
The victory made it two in a row for Woodinville and bumps their season record up to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Inglemoor, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Inglemoor has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Woodinville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Inglemoor was able to grind out a solid win over Woodinville in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 8-5. Will Inglemoor repeat their success, or does Woodinville has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
