Purvis has gone a perfect 3-0 against Stone recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Tornadoes will be playing at home against the Tomcats at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Saturday as neither Purvis nor Wayne County made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Tornadoes blew past the War EaglesLady War Eagles 11-3. The high-scoring effort was just what the Tornadoes needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Jadie Byrd - 2027 spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits.
At the plate, Lily Reynolds - 2027 was incredible, going 2-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Tiyah Evans - 2026, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Purvis was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wayne County only posted a batting average of .219.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Stone ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 14-8 margin over Wayne County. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tomcats.
Samantha Williamson and Brianna Williamson did most of the damage at the plate: Samantha went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Brianna went 2-for-5 with one home run and four RBI. Samantha has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jaszian Ray, who got on base in three of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Stone's victory bumped their record up to 14-8. As for Purvis, their win bumped their record up to 10-4.
Purvis got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in February of 2025 against Stone by a conclusive 10-2 score. Do the Tornadoes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tomcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
