5A North Metro recap October 1, 2013
Arvada West moved up to 42 from 74 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 5A North Metro. The Wildcats were able to move up by defeating Legacy 24-0.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Fairview beat Ralston Valley 43-18. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Knights.
Anders Hill threw for 384 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 23-34 with 1 interception.
Hill put up the best numbers in passing as Fairview beat the Mustangs. Hill's favorite target this week was Sam Martin, who caught 9 passes for 195 yards.
Tom McCartney's team's Hill and Martin led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hill has thrown for 1,300 yards this season, while Martin, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 38 catches for 683 yards. Chris Marquez from Pomona leads the league in rushing with 838 yards.
The Knights' offense has recorded 199 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Arvada West has permitted only 75 on the year.
One of 5A North Metro's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when Fairview and Greg Whisler's team face off next week.
The Wildcats are currently in fourth, while the Knights are in first.
The Panthers took down Boulder 44-8 last week, the largest margin of any game. Marquez ran for 171 yards in the win.
