The True North Classical Academy Titans and the Archbishop Carroll Bulldogs squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the True North Classical Academy Titans had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 38-35. True North Classical Academy's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Despite the defeat, True North Classical Academy saw an underclassman step up: Zachary "Zac" Katz threw for 254 yards and four touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes. Katz hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for four straight games. Jonathan Bueno Jr. was another key contributor, gaining 81 total yards and two touchdowns.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Archbishop Carroll to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alejandro Isaza, who rushed for 129 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Isaza has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sylus Villanueva, who rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown.
True North Classical Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Archbishop Carroll, they pushed their record up to 11-1 with that victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
True North Classical Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Archbishop Carroll will head out on the road to face off against Chaminade-Madonna at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Chaminade-Madonna's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matches.
