The Whiteoak Wildcats were the 39-38 winner over the Peebles Indians when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The contest between both teams wasn't particularly close, with Whiteoak falling 57-39. They have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Peebles' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Payton Johnson led the charge by scoring 22 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least 25% of Peebles' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caydence Carroll, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Whiteoak's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4. As for Peebles, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whiteoak will face off against Fayetteville-Perry at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Fayetteville-Perry focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Thursday. Peebles is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Green at 7:30 p.m. on January 10th.
