If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Lexington. On Friday they will take on Richmond at 7:00 PM. Richmond will need to watch out since Lexington have now posted big point totals in their last three contests.
Last Friday, Lexington put the finishing touches on their 3rd blowout victory of the season. They put a hurting on Lafayette County to the tune of 42-0. Senior Alvaro Porras was the offensive standout of the match for Lexington, as he rushed for 229 yards and 3 touchdowns. This marked the 8th match in which Porras has rushed for over 100 yards.
Meanwhile, things haven't been easy for Richmond, and their game last Friday only extended their streak of losses to eight. They came up short against Knob Noster, falling 28-40. It was a tough break for Richmond, who improved upon an already decent score from two weeks ago but lost both times.
Lexington's victory lifted them to 7-1 while Richmond's loss dropped them down to 0-8. We'll find out if Lexington can add another positive mark to their record or if Richmond can shake off the loss and take the spring out of Lexington's step.
