The Chinle Wildcats were the 60-37 winner over the Tuba City Warriors when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Chinle was beaten by Tuba City 50-23 on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Chinle has scored all season.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dizhoon White, who scored two points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Brianna Benalley was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Tuba City got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Eriana Begay out in front who scored 16 points along with five steals. Begay hasn't dropped below 16 points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Natasha Acothley, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Chinle has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. As for Tuba City, their victory bumped their record up to 15-10.
Chinle will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Snowflake at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st. Snowflake will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Chinle surely won't give up without a fight. As for Tuba City, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Window Rock at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Tuba City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Tuesday.
