Grosse Pointe South is a perfect 5-0 against Mt. Pleasant since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Blue Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Oilers at 11:00 a.m. Grosse Pointe South knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Mt. Pleasant likes a good challenge.
If Grosse Pointe South beats Mt. Pleasant with ten runs on Saturday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Everything went the Blue Devils' way against L'Anse Creuse North on Thursday as they made off with a 10-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won 16 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Dane Lezotte was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Aryan Punjabi spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mt. Pleasant is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise.
Grosse Pointe South's win bumped their record up to 23-4. As for Mt. Pleasant, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Grosse Pointe South's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's match. The Blue Devils have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Mt. Pleasant, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Grosse Pointe South continue to outrun the ball?
Grosse Pointe South was able to grind out a solid victory over Mt. Pleasant when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 6-2. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Oilers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
