McDonough hasn't had much luck against Leonardtown recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Claire Radford made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Leonardtown got a massive performance out of Kendall Wathen, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs Wathen has posted since back in May of 2024. Mackenzie Moore was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Leonardtown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.
Leonardtown's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average this season. As for McDonough, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
