Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Minster

Minster came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the New Bremen Cardinals 14-1. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Brooklyn Osterloh made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Brianna Osterloh looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Reece Albers was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Rylin Trego, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

Minster was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in five consecutive games.

Minster pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for New Bremen, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Minster will host Shawnee at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for New Bremen, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Indians at 5:00 p.m.
