The Lamar Raiders lost against the Simpson Academy Cougars back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Lamar was outmatched by Simpson Academy at home and fell 72-40. Lamar has not had much luck with Simpson Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Lamar's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Whitcomb, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Salone Elliott, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Lamar's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Simpson Academy, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lamar will be home for the holidays to greet Starkville Academy at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Simpson Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Jackson Prep at 7:45 p.m. on December 15th. Jackson Prep will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
