The Rusk Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Madisonville Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rusk's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Madisonville's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Rusk turned things around against Bullard on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 9-0 win. The Eagles not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 6th (when they won 15-0).

Ross Davis
Not much got past Ross Davis, who gave up just two hits and racked up 14 Ks to keep Bullard off the board. Davis also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Rusk is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-8-1 otherwise.
At the plate, Rusk saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adriel Heridia, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Five must be Madisonville's lucky number: they beat Center with that score not once but twice on Thursday. The Mustangs beat the Roughriders by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-3.
Cade Campbell tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Malik Kovar, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Dean, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Rusk's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 9-10-1. As for Madisonville, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Rusk skirted past Madisonville 9-8 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
