The Portal Panthers waltzed into their contest on Saturday with ten straight wins but they left with 11. They blew past Bryan County 85-32 at home. Portal has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 20 points or more this season.
Joseph Thomas was his usual excellent self, going 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 35 points and 1 assist. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Amir Jackson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Portal's win was their 24th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.7 points per game. As for Bryan County, their loss dropped their record down to 14-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Portal will take on the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Emanuel County Institute will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 512th, while the Panthers are ranked 48th). As for Bryan County, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m.
