The Seminole Ridge Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Wellington Wolverines at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Thursday, Seminole Ridge suffered a rough 34-14 defeat at the hands of Dwyer. Seminole Ridge was down 27-7 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite the defeat, Seminole Ridge got a solid performance out of Roberto Venero, who rushed for 137 yards while picking up 8.6 yards per carry.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 34 points the game before, Wellington were a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They were outmatched by Palm Beach Central at home and fell 43-3. While losing is never fun, Wellington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 425th, while Palm Beach Central is ranked 61st).
Seminole Ridge's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-3. As for Wellington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Seminole Ridge has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 158.3 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Wellington, though, as they've been averaging only 54.4 per game. How will Wellington fare against such a dominant running game?
Seminole Ridge might still be hurting after the 33-7 loss they got from Wellington in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Thankfully for Seminole Ridge, Ryan Anthony (who rushed for 182 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.1 yards per carry, and also threw for 169 yards and a touchdown) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
