The Trinity Christian Academy Conquerors came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 65-59 victory over Eagle's View. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Trinity Christian Academy found their leader in underclassman Jordan Martinez, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 13 rebounds. Martinez hasn't dropped below 15 points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Joshua Moricette, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kenneth Berry, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Berry is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last three games he's played. Justis Clements was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight steals and six rebounds.
Trinity Christian Academy's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Eagle's View, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trinity Christian Academy will square off against Episcopal School of Jacksonville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Episcopal School of Jacksonville presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Trinity Christian Academy in Florida (Episcopal School of Jacksonville is ranked 43rd, while Trinity Christian Academy is ranked 428th). As for Eagle's View, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Duval Charter at 12:00 p.m. on January 27th.
