The Waldport Irish will head out on the road to face off against the Myrtle Point Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Waldport will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oregon Rankings (they are ranked 134th, while Myrtle Point is ranked 31st).
Last Monday, Waldport lost to Willamina on the road by a decisive 42-25 margin.
Meanwhile, Myrtle Point put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down Lost River 39-20. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Myrtle Point has scored all year.
Waldport now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Myrtle Point, their win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0.
Waldport didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Myrtle Point in their previous meeting back in January of 2022, but they still walked away with a 48-42 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Waldport since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
