Fleming is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Peetz is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Fleming Wildcats will take on the Peetz Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Fleming focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Fleming lost to Prairie on the road by a decisive 43-24 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Fleming has scored all season.
Defeat or not, Fleming got some senior leadership from David Betley and Will Bornhoft. Betley scored six points along with ten rebounds, while Bornhoft. scored eight points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Fleming struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Even though Peetz has not done well against Haxtun recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Peetz walked away with a 67-57 victory over Haxtun. Given Peetz's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while Haxtun is ranked 241st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Noah Naegele, who dropped a double-double on 33 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Chance Seglke, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 assists.
Fleming has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Peetz, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Fleming have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 32.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Peetz struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 28.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Fleming came up short against Peetz in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 53-42. Will Fleming have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
