The Metrolina Christian Academy Warriors are taking a road trip to challenge the South Mecklenburg Sabres at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Metrolina Christian Academy has eight straight wins, South Mecklenburg has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
Last Thursday, Metrolina Christian Academy got the win against Kingdom Leadership Academy by a conclusive 3-0.
The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-10, 25-15.
Meanwhile, South Mecklenburg faced East Mecklenburg in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. South Mecklenburg fell 3-1 to East Mecklenburg. While the Sabres didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Eagles 25-19 in the first set.
South Mecklenburg started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 19-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-16.
Metrolina Christian Academy will have to contain Phoenix Modie as he made an impact in South Mecklenburg's last game. He had 11 kills, seven blocks, and five aces. Modie is on a roll when it comes to kills, as he's now had six or more in each of the last ten games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Fancher, who had five digs, two aces, and one block.
Metrolina Christian Academy pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for South Mecklenburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Everything went Metrolina Christian Academy's way against South Mecklenburg in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Metrolina Christian Academy made off with a 3-0 win.
