Softball Recap: Aubrey Rogers Has No Trouble Against Lely

Aubrey Rogers won the last time they faced Lely and things went their way on Thursday too. The Patriots blew past the Trojans 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won eight contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Delaney McCroskery made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayline Martinez, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Audrina Rodriguez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Aubrey Rogers and bumps their season record up to 10-13. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Lely, they moved to 6-14 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Aubrey Rogers has already played their next match, a 20-5 win against American Heritage on the 19th. As for Lely, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 23-8 victory against Gateway Charter on the 21st.
