Basketball Game Preview: Natchez Bulldogs vs. Provine Rams

The Natchez Bulldogs will head out to take on the Provine Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Provine took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Natchez, who comes in off a win.

Natchez took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 55-37 win over South Jones. The Bulldogs pushed the score to 44-22 by the end of the third, a deficit the Braves cut but never quite recovered from.

Natchez relied on the efforts of RONIYA ELLIS, who went 8 for 20 en route to 20 points along with eight boards and six assists, and CALEAH KENNEDY, who went 9 of 19 on her way to 22 points and three blocks. That's the most points KENNEDY has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of FAITH GUTTER, who posted six points and three steals.

Natchez smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Provine was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. The contest between them and Brookhaven didn't end well, with Provine falling 56-40.

Natchez is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Provine, their loss dropped their record down to 5-14.

Natchez strolled past Provine when the teams last played on January 7th by a score of 61-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Natchez since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
