The Midland Trail Patriots gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They blew past Independence 81-50 at home. For Midland Trail, this counts as revenge for the 70-53 loss Independence walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February.
Bryar Bailes had an outrageously good game as he scored 25 points along with 6 steals and 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Payton Bailes, who scored 16 points along with 3 steals.
Midland Trail's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Independence, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Midland Trail will challenge Summers County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Independence, they will head out on the road to face off against River View at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
