The high school football season in West Virginia came to a close over the weekend.
Huntington was among the victors, beating
Parkersburg South (Parkersburg) 28-3. That victory helped propel the Highlanders to the No. 1 ranking in the final state MaxPreps Top 25.
Huntington finished 13-1 to win the program’s first state title and the first for a school from Cabell County since 1953.
The Highlanders were led by MaxPreps West Virginia Player of the Year
Gavin Lochow, who threw for 2,192 yards and 35 touchdowns while running for 1,132 yards and 16 scores.
