The Telfair County Trojans pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 70-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bleckley County. While losing is never fun, Telfair County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 463rd, while Bleckley County is ranked 135th).
Despite the loss, Telfair County still got an impressive performance from Rodriquez Clay, who scored 29 points. Clay hasn't dropped below 15points for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Mclaughlin, who scored eight points.
Telfair County has fallen quite a ways from their 21-6 record last season and are now at 4-10. As for Bleckley County, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.
Telfair County won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Wheeler County at 4:30 p.m. on January 20th. Wheeler County has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 185 points over their last three contests. As for Bleckley County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Swainsboro at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
