After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lutheran East, the Winton Woods Warriors were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They came out on top against Turpin by a score of 65-55. Given Winton Woods' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Turpin is ranked 132nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tyler McKinley went supernova for Winton Woods, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 18 rebounds. The contest was McKinley's third in a row with at least ten points. Sean Harmon was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds.
Winton Woods' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Turpin, their loss ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winton Woods will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Walnut Hills at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. As for Turpin, they will head out on the road to face off against Archbishop Moeller at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Archbishop Moeller will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
