Liam O'Neill and Gaige Farrar made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, O'Neill tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Farrar pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. O'Neill has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. At bat, O'Neill went 1-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Farrar went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave O'Neill a new career-high.
In other batting news, Woodland got a massive performance out of Isaac Downing, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Nicholas, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Woodland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southern Aroostook only posted an OBP of .391.
Meanwhile, Bangor Christian came tearing into Wednesday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Lakers get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory.
Woodland's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Bangor Christian, their record is now 15-1.
Woodland took their win against Bangor Christian in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 20-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dragons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
