The Catonsville Comets will head out on the road to square off against the Eastern Tech Mavericks at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Catonsville has six straight victories, the Mavericks have four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Monday, Catonsville didn't have too much trouble with the Generals at home as they won 66-48.
Meanwhile, Eastern Tech pushed their score all the way to 71 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The match between them and Overlea wasn't particularly close, with Eastern Tech falling 88-71. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Eastern Tech in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite their defeat, Eastern Tech saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jericho Wondeye, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Adrian Pefianco, who scored 14 points along with five assists.
Catonsville's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-4. As for Eastern Tech, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.
Everything came up roses for Catonsville against the Mavericks when the teams last played back in January of 2022 as the team secured a 66-33 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Catonsville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
