It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Celeste Blue Devils had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past Seymour 41-12 on the road. The score was close at the half, but Celeste pulled away in the second half with 34 points.
Celeste's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anthony Powell, who rushed for 168 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Powell hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for nine straight games. Brock Stewart also helped with two touchdowns in total.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Slade Thompson, who rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Loyd, who threw for 218 yards and a touchdown.
Celeste is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Seymour, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 8-3.
Celeste will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Albany at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Albany will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line. Seymour does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
