The Central Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Marion Swamp Foxes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Central was able to grind out a solid victory over York Prep, taking the game 66-58. The win was just what Central needed coming off of a 80-46 loss in their prior game.
Central relied on the efforts of Tazhir Webber, who scored 20 points, and Caden Edmond, who scored 19 points. Marcavion Gainey was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, Marion came tearing into Friday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Socastee and snuck past 66-63.
Marion had a senior duo take command as Gabriel Cusack scored 17 points along with seven assists and two steals and Jamarius Williams scored 18 points. Cusack has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tahj Lathon, who scored five points along with five rebounds.
Central's win bumped their record up to 9-15. As for Marion, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.
