After losing to the School of the Ozarks Patriots the last time they met, the Classical Saints decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Classical walked away with a 45-36 victory over School of the Ozarks on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Classical.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Classical to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nevi Wilkey, who scored 20 points along with four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Wilkey has scored at least a third of Classical's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Flannery Black, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
Loss or not, School of the Ozarks got some senior leadership from Holland Houston and Faith Martin. Houston almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds, while Martin. scored seven points along with two steals. Martin continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Classical pushed their record up to 10-7 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. As for School of the Ozarks, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-6.
Classical will head out on the road to square off against Goessel at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Goessel has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for School of the Ozarks, they will be playing at home against Everton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. School of the Ozarks is facing Everton at the right time seeing as Everton is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
