Benson lost against the Upsala Cardinals back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Benson ended up on the wrong side of a tough 80-54 walloping at the hands of Upsala. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Benson in their matchups with Upsala: they've now lost three in a row.
Leading Upsala to victory were Dakota Soltis and Brenna Graves. Soltis scored 22 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Graves dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Soltis continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Alexa Pilarski was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds.
Benson's defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-6. As for Upsala, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6.
Benson will head out on the road to face off against Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Upsala, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Staples-Motley at 7:15 p.m. on January 4th.
