The Addison Knights will venture away from home to square off against the Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour Storm at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Addison is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Addison nor Arkport Central/Canaseraga made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Knights fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 4-3. The Knights' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Sophia Hulslander and Ava Knowles did some serious damage despite the final result: Hulslander went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Knowles went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was Knowles' first of the season.
Meanwhile, Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They blew past the Crusaders 13-5. Considering the Storm have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Paige Ells made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour got a massive performance out of Brianna Hatch, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits Hatch has posted since back in April of 2024. Olivia King was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
Addison's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 5-3. As for Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour, their record is now 12-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Addison has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
