Sierra Vista came into Wednesday's contest looking for another win against Doral Academy Red Rock, but Brooke Battjes wouldn't allow it. The Dragons narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Mountain Lions 3-2 for which the team can thank Battjes, who had 13 digs and one assist. She has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last five times she's played.
Doral Academy Red Rock wouldn't go down easily and took Sierra Vista into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-23, 23-25, 21-25, 15-9.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Desert Oasis, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Everything went their way against Clark on Wednesday as they made off with a 3-0 victory.
Desert Oasis never let Clark on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-15, 25-15.
Doral Academy Red Rock better keep an eye on MacKenzie Dalton. She was instrumental in Desert Oasis' win, getting 15 digs and one assist.
Doral Academy Red Rock's record is now 8-6. As for Desert Oasis, their record now sits at 13-21.
