Eagle Valley and Palisade are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Eagle Valley Devils' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Palisade Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on February 13th. Hopefully Eagle Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Saturday.
After only 22 points in their last contest, Eagle Valley made sure to put some points up on the board against Conifer. Eagle Valley took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 55-18 win over Conifer.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Eagle Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zakia Shreeve, who scored ten points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sienna Marana, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Palisade stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They really took it to Battle Mountain for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-11 victory on the road. With Palisade ahead 24-2 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Addie Ritterbush had an outrageously good game as she scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Chloe Simons, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Eagle Valley's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-13. As for Palisade, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-6.
Tuesday's match is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Eagle Valley have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Palisade struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Eagle Valley suffered a grim 48-26 defeat to Palisade in their previous matchup two weeks ago. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Simons, who scored 24 points. Now that Eagle Valley knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
