Liberty were the big favorite in their most recent match, and for good reason. They took their match against Truman on Friday by a conclusive 37-6 score. Liberty have a history of success against Truman, winning their last head-to-head 37-6.
Liberty's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 21 points in the first half. Meanwhile, Truman couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 21-0 heading into the break. The Liberty defense stood its ground in the third quarter, giving up 0 and all but finishing the game.
Senior Jack Lowery, who rushed for 169 yards and 3 touchdowns, was a major factor in Liberty's success. The victory bumped their record up to 2-1. Truman are still searching for that first win as they fell to 0-3.
Both teams are staying within the conference for their upcoming matches. Next week Liberty take on Liberty North at 7:00 PM. The teams have set a high bar for this contest after stand-out offensive performances in their previous contests. As for Truman, they will face off against Central. Truman come in off of 3 low-scoring performances in a row, a trend the squad is obviously eager to reverse.
