Given Cheswick Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 228th, while Geibel Catholic is ranked 750th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Gators players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tommy Kolencik, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Kolencik is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gary Tarbuk, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Cheswick Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Geibel Catholic, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-15.
Cheswick Christian Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Trinity Christian at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st. As for Geibel Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Jefferson-Morgan at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Jefferson-Morgan is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
