They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat River Valley 48-6 at home. The result was nothing new for Mohave, who have now won seven contests by 28 points or more so far this season.
Mohave found their leader in underclassman Joe Yoney JR, who rushed for 85 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries, and also threw for 209 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Nathaniel Villarreal, who picked up 107 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
When it comes to explaining why River Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jayden Plotkin. Despite the final result, he rushed for 99 yards and a touchdown.
Mohave's victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-1. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 8-1 Lee Williams and 8-2 American Leadership Academy - West Foothills (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 73.8% over those games). As for River Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-3.
Mohave will head out on the road to face off against Sabino at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Sabino is ranked 55th, while Mohave is ranked 39th). As for River Valley, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Chino Valley at 7:00 p.m.
