The Junction City Bluejays entered their tilt with the Topeka Trojans with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Junction City blew past Topeka, posting a 83-49 victory on the road. Given Junction City's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Topeka is ranked 176th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Topeka still got an impressive performance from Isaiah Lyons, who scored 30 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lyons has scored all season.
Junction City's victory bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Topeka, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Junction City will square off against Washburn Rural at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Washburn Rural focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Monday. As for Topeka, they will head out on the road to take on Manhattan at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Topeka focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Friday.
